As part of the Christian church community, we acknowledge that we’re given the Bible as a roadmap to living as a member of the Lord’s army. Because of this, all of our decisions are rooted in biblical principles. Whether it’s the messages we preach or the assistance we provide to our flock and the community at large, we pray about every step we take in our efforts to spread the influence of Christ. At our church, we believe in taking a Bible-first approach to be the change we want to see in the world.
ABOUT OUR LEADERS
APOSTLECARTER SMITH
In 1990, Apostle Smith was called to ministry as an Evangelist, where he served God and his leaders faithfully. In 1992, God commissioned Apostle Smith, a Virginia native, to found Sure Word Church based on a call to teach people how to apply Godly principles and see their lives totally transformed through Jesus Christ.
With almost 30 years of pastoral experience behind him, Apostle Smith has become well known as a teacher/preacher of great character and integrity. His thought-provoking weekly messages challenge listeners to develop a hunger for the things of God, and to guide and enjoy their lives based on God’s principles.
Apostle Smith happily shares a life of love with his wife Angela, who serves with him in the ministry. They have been married 36 years and have three children.

It is our desire to cultivate, nourish and develop men, women and children from every ethnic, racial and socioeconomic background to the highest quality of life they can achieve. We are determined to minister to the total individual – spirit, soul and body by providing a spiritual atmosphere that encourages growth. As a result, this growth will equip Believers with tools for reaching their destiny and embracing the benefits of the Kingdom of God.
We aspire to positively impact the quality of family life within our ministry by focusing on promoting healthy families. We believe that God desires strong, balanced, intact, happy families. In order to accomplish and fulfill our goal, God has given us a Vision for gathering the harvest of souls for His Kingdom. Our Vision promotes furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom in the Earth.
In order to fulfill our Vision, the ZOE Center affords opportunities for engaging families and the surrounding community. We promote interactive events and activities such as: Festivals, Balls, Family Dinners, Movie Nights, Educational Programs, Workshops and many more exciting activities. With a special focus on volunteerism, activism and community service, SWC fosters opportunities to serve our community, promote social justice and exemplify the love of God.
